AgTerra delivered AgTrac and AgScout products to a major sugar company.  The products now allow growers to input their production records online.  This benefits the sugar company because now records that were difficult to obtain accurately, or required manual input by the company are now input directly by the growers.  The company benefits with more accurate data and the growers now obtain reports, including harvest data, that they need for their lenders and insurance companies.  Using AgScout to GPS fields, the company is able to provide growers access to their field records using online maps.  AgTerra provided the company with all the needed resources including software, hardware and training so that they are now able to do more and obtain more with the resources currently in place.

AgTerra created the AgScoutSV application using Microsoft .NET, PHP and PostgreSQL. AgTracSV provides an outstanding real-world example of how Microsoft .NET XML web services can be used to connect from the field to a web based application.  Three tiered level security is provided in the system which reduces data requirements on the Pocket PC and yet provides the user with the customized data required by the user.  AgTracSV uses the power of .NET to drive tighter integration with both the crop consultants and their clients, providing a dramatic increase in the service level through the use of real-time XML data exchange.

Case Study #3: Online System for a Seed Company

For this project, AgTerra built a solution for the largest producer of pelleted seed for sugar beet in the United States.  Pelleted seed is important to this industry because it makes the seed easier to plant at exact spacing in the field.  This eliminates costly hand labor.  Furthermore, pelleted seed provides the medium for delivering seed and seedling protective chemicals which are otherwise too expensive to apply or dangerous in the ecosystem.  The problem the seed company needed to eliminate was how to handle their clients’ orders in a narrow two month window while being able to increase capacity at the factory with existing resources.  To accomplish the seed company's online system replaced traditional data entry systems while providing Order Confirmation, Order History and other details with User Profile management.

AgTerra has eliminated much of the costly data entry associated with processing customer details, redeployed customer care resources to more effective areas and markedly improved its customer service offerings by migrating to XML web services.

AgTerra developed the Seed Company Online system to display production scheduling and laboratory results with a user-friendly web interface.  Each user is given an authorized login id and has a controlled access as per the privileges set in the Admin section.  The clients enjoy the service and convenience available with Order Online, developed by AgTerra with total commitment to innovation and dedication to customer satisfaction.

The primary architectural model used to build the solution was a Thin Web Client, using HTML for the user interface PHP, IIS 4.0, Java Script, and MySQL.

Case Study #4: Large Ranch Information System

This project addressed the needs for a ranch managing over 500,000 acres of pasture and farmland in Wyoming and Montana.  They are challenged today managing resources for their best use.  AgTerra was called upon to build a system that helps the ranch manage existing RFID database systems, leased land resources and to map the current infrastructure to help catalog wildlife surveys, pest management data, and coal bed methane impact.  AgTerra delivers field based computers, software and GPS to achieve the project’s goals and objectives.

Client Benefit:
This project makes it possible for all ranch users to access and interpret electronic records easier than before.  Paper records that were originally misplaced and lost are now held in archive for historical interpretation in the future.  As an added benefit, the ranch will also meet the data collection requirements under the NRCS-CSP plan for watershed management.

The ability to collect data in the field and sync it to an Internet database for retrieval by authorized users will help to assure that knowledge remains on the ranch.  The product will help the ranch meet regulatory guidelines for watershed management and provide tools to manage all the assets of the ranch.
